Notting Hill Carnival 2013

Another year, another August bank holiday, another Notting Hill Carnival!

Great music, fantastic food and dancing in the streets. This year was exceptionally carnival and the set at the end of the procession was incredible.

If you haven’t been before, here’s some tips for when you do decide to venture along, be it next year or further down the line:

Travel: Get off at Holland Park and walk down. It’s much less stressful than trying to attempt to get to Notting Hill Gate.

Drink: Red stripe. It’s an occasion where you can un-shamefully enjoy this treat in a can.

Wear: Anything goes. Face paint, feathers and glitter are welcomed. As are neon outfits and whistles or flags.

Take: The opportunity to experience London at its friendliest! Chat with new people and dance down the street, it feels like a different city on these days, much like the Olympics last year.

Carnival may be over for 2013, but I can’t wait for 2014 already.
