Today, I visited Aubaine in Selfridges, London. Despite having to queue for a little while, it was more than worth the wait, and the staff were incredibly polite about the wait time- though it should be expected on a busy week in December!
To start, I had the fried squid, which came with lime and chilli. Perfectly cooked and a brilliant starter to share, it was a fantastic start to the meal alongside the recommended white wine from the Languedoc region which we enjoyed alongside the dish.
For main, the goats cheese and field mushroom tart was beautifully presented. The balance of the cheese with the mushrooms was very well paired also. Mains are priced from around £12- 24 and for a major department store in London with some cracking food, this really is very reasonable.
The atmosphere was great and it was a lovely restaurant to escape to from the madness of Christmas shopping. Aside from Selfridges, Aubaine can be found across various places in London and further details can be found here.
It’s the perfect place for a business lunch or a relaxed dinner with friends that is slightly more up market than your average chain restaurant, but won’t break the bank for some good food either!
